TERMS & CONDITIONS
TERMS & CONDITIONS
Last updated: 19 July 2026
1. About these terms
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) apply to the use of the German Week Melbourne website and to general interactions with German Week Melbourne.
The website is operated by German Week & Culture in Victoria Inc., operating as German Week Melbourne (“German Week Melbourne”, “we”, “us” or “our”).
By accessing or using our website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the website.
Additional terms may apply to particular events, registrations, competitions, promotions or services. Where additional terms are provided, they should be read together with these Terms.
2. About German Week Melbourne
German Week Melbourne is a program of cultural, community, educational, business and entertainment events held in and around Melbourne.
The program may include:
-
events organised directly by German Week Melbourne;
-
events presented in partnership with other organisations; and
-
independently organised events promoted as part of the German Week Melbourne program.
The identity of the relevant organiser may be displayed on the event page, registration page or ticketing platform.
3. Website information
We take reasonable care to ensure that information published on our website is accurate and current. However, event information is often supplied by participating organisers and may change after publication.
We do not guarantee that all website content is complete, accurate, current or free from errors.
Event dates, times, venues, speakers, performers, availability, accessibility information, prices and program details may change. Visitors should check the relevant event page, ticketing platform or organiser’s website before attending an event.
Where we become aware of a significant error or change, we will take reasonable steps to update the information available through our website.
4. Events organised by third parties
Some events promoted through the German Week Melbourne website are organised and delivered independently by third-party organisations.
For these events:
-
the third-party organiser is responsible for delivering the event;
-
the organiser determines its own admission, participation and accessibility arrangements;
-
the organiser may apply its own terms, privacy policy and ticketing conditions;
-
registrations and payments may be processed through an external platform; and
-
questions, complaints or requests relating to the event may need to be directed to the relevant organiser.
The inclusion of an independently organised event in the German Week Melbourne program does not mean that German Week Melbourne controls every aspect of that event.
Where reasonably practical, we will help visitors identify or contact the relevant organiser.
5. Ticketing, registrations and refunds
Ticket purchases, registrations, cancellations, transfers and refunds are governed by:
-
our separate Ticketing & Refund Policy, where German Week Melbourne manages the event or ticket sale;
-
any event-specific conditions displayed during registration or purchase; and
-
the terms of the relevant organiser or ticketing provider for independently managed events.
The Ticketing & Refund Policy should be reviewed before registering for or purchasing a ticket to an event.
Nothing in these Terms or in our Ticketing & Refund Policy excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
6. Event content supplied to us
Participating event organisers and organisations may provide German Week Melbourne with event information, images, logos, biographies and other promotional materials.
By submitting this material, you confirm that the information is accurate, that you are authorised to provide it and that its use by German Week Melbourne will not infringe another person’s intellectual property, privacy or other rights.
You grant German Week Melbourne permission to use, reproduce, resize, crop, format and publish the submitted material for the administration and promotion of the relevant event and the German Week Melbourne program.
We may make reasonable editorial or formatting changes and may decline or remove material that is inaccurate, inappropriate, unlawful or unsuitable for publication.
7. Intellectual property
Unless otherwise stated, the content created for the German Week Melbourne website, including its text, branding, graphics, layouts and original promotional material, is owned by or licensed to German Week & Culture in Victoria Inc.
Logos, photographs, event descriptions and other materials supplied by participating organisations may remain the property of their respective owners.
You may view and share links to publicly available pages for personal, informational and non-commercial purposes.
You must not, without the permission of the relevant rights holder:
-
reproduce substantial parts of the website;
-
republish website content as your own;
-
commercially exploit our branding or content;
-
modify or remove copyright or ownership notices;
-

-
use photographs, videos or creative materials outside the purpose for which they were published.
Requests to use German Week Melbourne materials can be sent to the contact address below.

-
to collect information about other users without authorisation;
-
to impersonate another person or organisation;
-
to submit content that is defamatory, discriminatory, abusive, threatening or unlawful; or
-

The inclusion of a link does not necessarily constitute an endorsement of every statement, product or service offered by the third party.
You should review the relevant third party’s terms and privacy policy before using its website or providing personal information.
10. Website availability and security
We aim to keep the website available and functioning correctly. However, we do not guarantee that the website will always be available, uninterrupted, secure or free from technical errors.

11. Attendance and conduct at events
Attendees must comply with:
-
reasonable instructions from event organisers, venue staff and authorised representatives;
-
venue conditions of entry;
-
applicable health and safety requirements; and
-
any event-specific rules communicated before or during the event.
A person may be refused entry or asked to leave where their conduct is unsafe, unlawful, threatening, discriminatory, seriously disruptive or likely to endanger other attendees, staff, volunteers or property.
Any decision to refuse entry or remove a person must be made reasonably and consistently with applicable law.
Attendees remain responsible for their personal belongings and for considering whether an activity is appropriate for their individual circumstances.
Specific age restrictions, supervision requirements, accessibility arrangements or participation conditions will be stated on the relevant event page where applicable.
12. Photography and recording
Photography, video or audio recording may take place at German Week Melbourne events.
Information about how photographs and recordings may be collected and used is provided in our Privacy Policy.
Guests who do not wish to be photographed or recorded should speak to a member of the event team. We will take reasonable steps to respect these requests.
Independent event organisers may apply their own photography and recording practices.
13. Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable legislation.
To the extent permitted by law, German Week Melbourne is not responsible for loss or damage caused solely by:
-
information supplied by an independent event organiser;
-
the actions or omissions of an independent organiser, venue or service provider;
-
a visitor’s reliance on information after being notified that it has changed;
-
the unavailability or operation of an external website or platform;
-
circumstances outside our reasonable control; or
-
a visitor’s failure to follow reasonable safety instructions or event conditions.
Where our liability cannot lawfully be excluded, it will be limited only to the extent permitted by applicable law.
14. Privacy
Our collection and handling of personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy.
By submitting information through the website, you acknowledge that it will be handled in accordance with that policy.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect changes to our website, activities, service providers or legal obligations.
The current version will be published on our website with the date of the most recent update.
Changes apply from the date they are published. They will not retrospectively remove rights that have already arisen under applicable law.
16. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.
Subject to any rights you may have under applicable consumer legislation, disputes relating to these Terms will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts and tribunals of Victoria and the courts entitled to hear appeals from them.
17. General provisions
If any part of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply.
A failure by German Week Melbourne to enforce a provision on one occasion does not prevent us from enforcing it on another occasion.
These Terms should be read together with our:
-
Privacy Policy;
-
Ticketing & Refund Policy; and
-
any event-specific conditions that apply to a particular registration, ticket or activity.
